Seattle City Council Honors Sen. George Fleming with Street Name Dedication.
The City of Seattle has passed a resolution to honor Sen George Fleming, the first African-American Senator in Washington state, by naming a section of 43rd Ave S after him. The cost of installing the signs will be covered by a third-party and is estimated at $2,000. Fleming served for 22 years and was recognized for his contributions to affordable housing, civil rights, and civil liberties.
